In the Bible God talks about choice several times, or if you rather, free will.
Choice (noun) -The power, right, or liberty to choose.
God loves us so much that He gives us an option. He lets us choose Him if we want or is terribly sorrowed but lets us choose other things before Him if that is our choice.
In Deuteronomy the Lord tells us to choose Him. I put the verse below:
Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live”
The Lord is life. He brings us life and He sacrificed His son so that we had the option of choosing life. He loves us that much. It really is too much to comprehend. He wants us to choose life, He so terribly wants us to choose Him, but sadly some decide not too.
In Joshua 24:15, Joshua, an honorable man of God says, “15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
Choice is a blessing or a curse. You can look at it any way you want, but I see choice as another gift from God to us. He’s not forcing Himself on us at all, but He leaves open two options: Him or not. He lays it out before us and shows us what’s going to happen if we don’t pick Him, but some still don’t. Plain, and simple as that.
We can choose to obey and we can choose to disobey. We have free will. We are humans, God put us above all other creatures and created us in His likeness. Exercise this option of choice, but I pray that you will ultimately choose to follow our Creator, the Alpha and Omega, our King.
