Sixteen Characteristics of Love (Day 231) #BiOY

Bible in One Year

It is my goal to start doing this before the year is up! I adore the idea of trying to genuinely love through all of the descriptors of love that God declared in His word. I most certainly will have to stop at the first one to start – what do you think of this?

As I reflect back on the past couple weeks, I’m sad to admit how confused, and a mess they were. I’ve wasted my time, focused on unimportant things, and let my God relationship slack.

I know that I need to love and live for Him. But the thing is, knowing doesn’t make a difference, speaking out and acting makes a difference. I’ve been saying how I need confidence, and surely Jesus does give me confidence. I have to take the initiative though, go forward and put myself out there. I need to allow the opportunities to be put into action.

I believe I’ve said this before, but I give good advice that I don’t even follow myself. I pray you’ll at least consider it, and I’ll put it into action. Saying you’ll do something doesn’t do anything. As a high school student, I understand that I’m going through lows and highs. Right now my life is a time of growing and learning. I need to not be afraid to make mistakes, because making mistakes is how we learn.

Jesus has given me a perfectly abled body, a gifted brain, a unique personality, and a relationship with Him. Not only should I be utilizing the blessings He’s given me, but I should be thankful.

There are people living on street corners, brilliant individuals with no chance to go to school, children starving, and so much more to worry about. Just because money’s a bit tight, and people annoy me and get on my nerves doesn’t give me an excuse to slack and waste my time.

Time. Oh where to start. Time is a precious thing. At least, time on this earth is a precious thing.

Jesus has given me the time, actually, us the time of life on this earth so that we may have the opportunity to share His gift to us.

I’ve been so preoccupied lately with things that don’t matter as much.

I’ve fretted about my friendships, when I have perfectly amazing friends right in front of me. Sure, I’m not the most popular person. Sure, I don’t have the most friends ever, but I amblessed with some amazing ones.

The whole deal with confidence I’ve relayed to you several times over again.
Yes, I could use more, but I have so many opportunities that I didn’t take. In the few that I did, I realized that.

Putting yourself out there and not caring what other people think is so incredibly important in your life as a Christian. Yes, we can be taunted and made fun of. But is it worth the insults in the end? Yes.

If other individuals and peers insult you for doing what’s right, ignore them.
You are the worthy.
God is looking down at you, swelling with pride, and is with you every single step of the way.

We forget this. I forget this.
There are many days when I have and still do not pray, and thank God for blessing me with what He has.

It’s time for me to refocus. To keep my eye on the prize. To love and live my life for Him.

Love. It’s just a four letter word. A word with so much importance.

Love, my friends. Love your life, love others, love yourself, and love God.
That love can inspire you, encourage you, and drive you.

Set aside what you consider important, and realize what actually is. What you consider important now, could be what actually is. However, the chances are, you put God on the back burner.

Re-evaluate your values. Rethink how you want to live your life for Him, and let go of your worries. Pray, have peace, and just refocus on living for Him.

When you refocus your life on Jesus, it makes a world of a difference. Not only does it set you on the right path, but you learn and benefit as well.

All your previous worries will become that much unimportant, and I pray that you’ll discover that living your life for Him, and accomplishing what He wants you to, goes hand in hand.

This is my prayer for myself. It’s how I’m going to push myself out of my comfort zone. I’m determined to leave behind what everyone thinks of me, and just make sure that I’m following and focusing on Jesus, and what He wants me to do.

Where God wants there to be a way, there will be. What we can do is grasp that opportunity God gives us, refocus, love and live our lives for Him to the best of our abilities.

Praying with love,

I hate Satan with a passion. HATE.

That’s a strong word right there, but I really do.

Recently I’ve unknowingly let him creep into my mind and place thoughts of doubt there. The main thing I’ve struggled with in my faith journey, is doubt.

Sometimes I doubt. I don’t doubt God’s existence, but I do doubt that I’m saved. I’ve accepted Jesus more times than I can count. I’ve struggled to hear His voice. I’ve panicked because I didn’t want to go to hell.

I know I’m a Christian. I know I’m saved. I often pray, “I believe, help me overcome my unbelief.”

It’s just Satan gets to me. He’s devious in that evil way.

I have experienced lots of doubt in my Christianity, but I have always overcome it. Right now is one of those phases. I appreciate any and all prayers if you read this and think of me.

My lovely and wise middle school Bible teacher once told me, “Fayth, whenever you doubt the Lord go to John 14:1-5 and replace every you with your name.”

So I did exactly that, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do right now.

(This is Jesus talking to the disciples.)

John 14:1-5 NIV

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”

When you struggle with doubt read these verses and then replace your name with the ‘you’ where it fits. Like I’m doing this very moment.

“Do not let your heart be troubled Fayth. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told Fayth that I am going there to prepare a place for her? And if I go and prepare a place for Fayth, I will come back and take Fayth to be with me that Fayth also may be where I am. Fayth knows the way to the place where I am going”

It’s an extremely comforting way to put it. It reassures me when I put my name in that verse, that I am indeed going to heaven, having already accepted Christ Jesus.

So that’s my main struggle. I hope that this benefits you as well when you doubt being saved. I am leaving doubt and fear and going to faith, hope, and love.

From a daughter of God,

Many Christians have daily devotions. Devotions are basically a time of day that you devote to spending time with God. Recently I’ve been trying to do my Devotions on a daily schedule. There are many different magazines, apps, online sites, and books that are great devotionals. Honestly when it all comes down to it the BIBLE is the ultimate devotional of all time. One very great devotional is Jesus Freak by DC Talk. It’s a book that is named after their one song and it’s filled with devotionals about Christian martyrs and their amazing and honorable stories. Here are a few scriptures that are good to meditate when you spend your time with God. I sorted a few with their relevant topics that you may be dealing with in your life today. I try to do a daily devotional but I find myself making other things priority. I want to make Jesus my #1 priority in life. The whole reason God gave me THIS life is so I can live it for HIM. I’m still unsure how and am constantly praying for His calling. This is my goal in life for He gave it to me to share with others. That’s what I’m trying to do with this blog, because after this life there is a better one and I hope to see all of you who read this there. I personally think that quick short 365 yearly devotionals are really inspiring because they’re a great way to help you start your day. Below is a list of scriptures that I personally find great ones to use for devotions and are encouraging and uplifting. Some I have found myself and others my friends have recommended.

-Hebrews 11-Faith

-Phillipians 1

-Romans 8-(for days you are feeling stressed)

-Revelation(the whole book for when you wonder about Heaven and/or the Rapture)

-John 14-(when you are facing doubt)

That’s just a few that I personally automatically go to. Everything in the Bible is there for you to learn from or to encourage you. Sometime just pray over the Bible and flip it open and God will take you to the page He wants to.

I pray you are all enjoying lovely spring weather.

I am putting together my list of blessings of all the things in my life so that I may celebrate, exalt, and glorify the wonderful Lord of my Heart and give Him praise. Feel free to join me in your own devotional time if you think you may benefit. I’ve been inspired to do this through a series of videos of an inspirational speaker that I have watched at church. I am looking forward to my eternal life after this one and will strive towards His excellence and praise in this one to be only pleasing to Him. I am hoping to add at least five things on each day for a while.
